The link between photography and cinema is well established. Film feeds on photography. Ultimate progress applied to the image via movement and then sound, cinema has outdone itself in the spectacular.
Popular from the outset, cinema soon extended its hegemony and asserted its “superiority” over the still image. Yet it has never been able to dispense with the essential role played by photography in its commercial success.
