The “sleeve” is a thermoformed PET wrapping found around an increasing number of everyday consumer products, and used by Maison Veuve Ambal to dress certain limited editions of its bottles to give them an artistic visual enhancement.
A leader in the Crémant de Bourgogne market, the directors of Maison Veuve Ambal have always been very involved in the artistic world, and it was Julien Lepont, Marketing Director, who proposed this interesting partnership idea: “Our wish was to solicit emerging talent and benefit from a fresh eye. This project calls for creativity and innovation, but it also imposes a number of technical and economic constraints, all of which are set out in very precise specifications.
After numerous discussions with Samuel Mathieu, the school’s director, and Anna Chevance, graphic arts teacher, followed by the green light from the com d’agglo obtained by Pierre Bolze, vice-president in charge of artistic education, a presentation of the competition was made to all the students in the Beaux-Arts preparatory class, 21 out of 25 of whom signed up to the project.
They will have to prepare a project that meets very precise technical rules, which they will have to present in 10 minutes in January 2019 in front of a jury of professionals. The 3 best projects will be rewarded.
“I like the idea of taking the Ecole des Beaux-Arts outside its walls, and this type of work can only be enriching for our students. What’s more, this agreement is a real win-win partnership, and we’re very pleased with it,” says Samuel Mathieu.
“The students are highly motivated, and I think they’ve already come up with a lot of ideas and inspiration. It’s an interesting exercise, which will also enable them to take account of a customer’s expectations, and ultimately to showcase their work when presenting it to the jury,” adds Anna Chevance, accompanied by the two class delegates, Nadège Olivier and Alison Bonin.
“We would like to thank Maison Veuve Ambal and its directors for this wonderful initiative, because an action like this helps to strengthen Beaune’s cultural image and thus contributes to its economic development,” concludes Alain Suguenot.
