La Grande Guerre en Relief – Photographic exhibition at Veuve AMbal

The war was only supposed to last a year. Yet from 1914 to 1918, men of fighting age were sent to the front in massive numbers. There, they endured the extreme harshness of life in the trenches. Nearly nine million of them were killed, both as actors in and victims of unusually violent fighting. For the centenary of the end of the conflict, these portraits pay tribute to them.
